Frequently asked questions
Membrane Modules
How long is the service life of a membrane module?
This varies depending on the membrane module used, the operating environment, and the operating conditions.
Please contact us for details.
How do I dispose of a membrane module after use?
It depends on the type of membrane module.
When disposing of the products, follow the Act on Waste Management and Public Cleaning.
What procedures are required for exporting membrane modules overseas?
Membrane modules and equipment, and associated technical information may be subject to regulations such as the Cabinet Order on Export Trade Control.
If an item is subject to restrictions upon export, it may be necessary to follow prescribed procedures such as applying for export permission.
Can a membrane module be used for liquids containing an organic solvent?
Our separation membranes are organic and designed for treatment of aqueous solutions. Whether a membrane module can be used or not depends on the type and concentration of the organic solvent. However, the treatment of organic solvents is generally outside of the usage range.
For details, please contact us via the contact form.
Are samples of separation membranes available?
Regarding hollow fiber membrane modules, palm-sized test modules are available. For other products, please contact us.
How do I clean a separation membrane?
Cleaning methods include physical cleaning (reverse pressure cleaning and sponge ball cleaning) and chemical cleaning (immersion cleaning and circulation cleaning). Since the most suitable cleaning method depends on the product, please contact us for details.
Can I order custom membrane treatment equipment system ?
As for the equipment design, we will make a proposal based on a judgment of the possibility of applicability after conducting an evaluation test with actual liquids. Design targets are only devices equipped with our membrane modules. For details, please contact us via the contact form.
Can a membrane module treat a liquid containing a surfactant?
It depends on the product and the type of surfactant.
In the case of a cationic surfactant, it may be adsorbed onto the membrane surface. So please use an evaluation test.
Can I rent or lease equipment system ?
Basically, our products are only available for purchase.
Do you have products capable of gas separation?
Our membrane modules are designed for aqueous solutions. No gas separation products are available.
Do membrane module products comply with the positive list under the Food Sanitation Act?
We provide compatible hollow fiber membrane modules.
What types of membranes are suitable for disinfection and pharmaceutical use?
UF membranes can reject general bacteria and viable bacteria. For purified water for pharmaceutical use and water for injection, we provide the FUST 653 hollow fiber membrane, whose endotoxin rejection level is LRV5.
How can I find out whether the test solution or sample solution can be separated using a membrane?
You can send your test solution to us for lab testing for a fee. (We may refuse to test solutions for some water treatment applications and dangerous materials.)
Please contact us for details.
How should membrane modules be stored, and what is their recommended storage period?
As for unused modules, store them indoors at a temperature of 5 to 35 °C, away from direct sunlight. The storage period varies depending on the product. So please refer to the instruction manual of the product. As for used membrane modules, please contact us regarding the storage method and the storage period.
Groundwater
Should we be concerned about the risks of, for example, land subsidence caused by using groundwater?
The water intake amount of our equipment is 50 to 250 m3 per day at a facility. From the viewpoint of pump discharge, land subsidence will not generally occur. Also, some areas have restrictions on water intake on the assumption of land subsidence. For details, please contact your local government.
