Daicel to Present Tubular RO Membrane Module for Wastewater Treatment at WIPO GREEN Technology Forum 2026
Our parent company, Daicel Corporation, will present the "TB-RO (Tubular Reverse Osmosis) membrane module," developed by Daicen Membrane Systems Ltd. for factory wastewater and activated sludge treatment effluent, at the WIPO GREEN Technology Forum 2026 to be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Akasaka Intercity Conference (Minato-ku, Tokyo).
This event, organized by the Japan Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), showcases environmental technologies. It aims to promote Japanese environmental technologies overseas and create opportunities for collaboration with companies, universities, research institutions, and government stakeholders in regions including India, ASEAN, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. The event will be held in a hybrid format combining on-site participation and online streaming, with simultaneous interpretation available in Japanese and English.
The "TB-RO membrane module" introduced by Daicel is a wastewater treatment solution capable of processing high-turbidity, high-COD wastewater in a single stage without pretreatment or with minimal pretreatment. It can be applied to factory wastewater and activated sludge effluent, contributing to volume reduction of wastewater. The TB-RO membrane module features a structure resistant to membrane fouling, enabling stable operation and maintenance of treatment flow rates over extended periods. It also allows physical cleaning using sponge balls, providing excellent cleanability and helping to reduce running costs.
Furthermore, this technology is suitable for treating wastewater containing oils and surfactants. It contributes to reducing environmental impact and promoting efficient water resource usage by enabling volume reduction of oily wastewater, encouraging water reuse, and supporting applications such as ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) systems*.
At the event, examples of applications--including treatment of industrial oily wastewater, solid-liquid separation of activated sludge, desalination, and resource recovery--will be introduced, along with approaches to collaboration with local engineering companies for overseas deployment.
The Daicel Group will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by providing technologies that help address environmental challenges.
*ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) System:
A water treatment system designed to recover and reuse all water from generated wastewater, preventing discharge outside facilities such as factories.
